MAKE IT YOUR OWN WITH GRIDS

Lights divided, truly and otherwise

Window grilles are narrow strips of wood, vinyl, or metal used to visually separate the glass of a window into “panes” or lites. They are purely aesthetic — not necessary for the structure of the window. When the lines the grilles create are purely horizontal and/or vertical, they are sometimes referred to as grids. But grilles can curve into a gothic shape, intersect in a diamond pattern, and more, creating a look that goes beyond a classic “grid.”

Windows Grids

Simulated Divided Lites

With simulated divided lites (SDL or duplex), the grids attach to the glass surface, both interior and exterior, with a spacer in between the glass to give your window and door a truly traditional look.

True Divided Lites

That said, true divided-light sash (TDL) reflects light differently. Multiple panes of glass each reflect light so that the reflection in the window dances subtly as you pass by. Window frames and muntins on TDLs also tend to be thicker, throwing deeper, more architectural shadow lines.

Grids Between Glass

Door and window grids positioned between the panes make the window easiest to clean. You can choose between flat grids or sculptured grids.
